Darryl Smith @ Radioactive Networks: February 2007

I love this. Optus has proposed to the government that they get $200M for extending 3G to other parts of the country. Telstra says that they should stick to wired networks and leave 3G to them. The hypocracy of it all!

Friday night the Roger Waters pig escaped from the stadium... It only flew 15km!... I also found a review of the Wizzard of Oz/Dark Side of the Moon mashup.

I was not expecting to post so quickly. But I saw an article on the Baltimore Sun on the power requirements of the NSA. It looks like Ft Meade uses about 60-75 MWatts at the moment, and will need about 75-90 MWatts within six months. But what does that mean. Assuming that these are servers and the like, and that they are fairly power efficient. Maybe 400W per machine including cooling. That adds up to about 250,000 machines, and we must assume that there are some not turned on. This is about one computer for each 1000 people in the USA. And this is just for the NSA.
I am still alive and kicking. I have just been far too busy to update things here. Soon I should be up to writing more than this short apology. Well, that is my hope.
